Child Protection

Some parents may become involved with Children’s Aid due to certain protection concerns. These concerns can sometimes lead to supervision orders or, in more serious cases, interim or permanent placement of children with foster parents.

Parents in this situation often need to address the protection concerns and demonstrate to the court that their children should remain in their care. For the court, the best interests of the children are always the primary consideration.
Handling child protection matters requires a careful balance. Parents’ rights should always be advocated, while keeping the best interests of the children at the forefront. At Pillarstone, we work closely with parents to address protection concerns, guide them through the legal process, and help ensure that the safety and wellbeing of their children are prioritized.

We have experience working with various Children’s Aid Societies, including the Durham Children’s Aid Society, Dnaagdawenmag Binnoojiiyag Child & Family Services, and other Children’s Aid Societies across Ontario. This experience allows us to understand the most effective ways for our clients to address protection concerns that may arise in their matters.

Our goal in child protection matters is to help clients achieve outcomes that minimize their involvement with Children’s Aid wherever possible. We guide parents through the steps necessary to address concerns identified by CAS or the court, enabling them to maintain care of their children. Throughout child protection proceedings, we provide guidance, support, and practical strategies to help parents navigate the system proactively, confidently, and effectively
